Started working on something new...

Hello everyone, I'm Zachariah and I just wanted to share some news about what I'm currently working on, a side scroller horror game...

And boi oh boii is that complicated. When I first started planning, I thought it wouldn't be a problem (cz static camera = less work XD) but once I started making it while taking help from YouTube tutorials, I realized my folly. U genuinely have to consider a lot of things with side scroller compared to anything else like:

*Making sure camera doesn't go out of bounds when u're at the end of the map, that it moves with the camera when necessary and when to stop like in cases where player jumps.

*Trying to design a map layout based in only two directions like adding an elevator so that it isn't just go left and right but also up and down.

*Making an enemy that suits the particular theme I'm trying to go for while making it unique from my previous games.

But man is game development difficult, u fix one thing another problem arises. Like I added a flashlight, and the size of the model was so huge that even if I resized it the collision remained big af and it messed with all my begin overlap and end overlap functions. Moreover, elevators are a pain in the ass to make since one mistake can lead to players abusing the f out of it.  So, the only thing that didn't break on me (yet) is the hiding mechanic XD. Planning to add more elements to flesh out the game.

Thanks for reading through my rants and I hope to share more regarding my new game soon.

In the meantime, u can play my previous game, https://zachariah69.itch.io/nowhere-left and wait for further updates.

Any donations are greatly appreciated!!! They’ll help me invest in online courses to improve my Unreal Engine 5 skills 🙏
